SEASON 5 IN SEPTEMBER 2023 !
Designer's Table is an experimental design project of tableware and the dining experience proposed by Studio Raphaël Lutz.
This applied research project in design and experience takes the form of tables d'hôtes open to all. Come and experience, with the designer and in his workshop, the possible interactions between your meal, the objects designed by us and the other guests.
For this fourth season, we worked on the theme of time. This time lost in view of what we have gained in humanity during this Covid-19 crisis.
The time that passes, the time that flies, the time that we miss, taking the time and all the notions that this gives rhythm to in our daily diet. Take the time to eat, use time as a real vector of our evolution and bring our guests to an introspective reflection in addition to the experience that we are going to give them.
This third season, and to celebrate 50 years of the Apollo 11 mission that took us to the moon, we set off on an intergalactic journey! We worked for 6 months to develop a collection of 5 objects. We were able to offer a unique and radical experience to the 380 people who came to eat at our tables d'hôtes between November 2019 and February 2020.
In terms of design, we were inspired by the formal archetypes of space conquest and decided to put food first. We have designed special tools for each dish and studied how astronauts feed themselves to offer a similar experience to our guests.
For this second season of Designer's Table, we worked for 6 months to develop a radical collection in terms of design. This project is part of a line of object design, food scenography, experience design, business model design and above all in a total concept to offer a new and radical experience to the 200 people who came to eat at our tables d'hôtes between November and December 2018.
We collaborated with no less than 12 different craftsmen and deliberately pushed the technique a little further, such as 5-axis CNC machining for the base of the entrance or even using 3D printed tools such as the helical sphere of the dessert or appetizer tool with a Formlabs. We wanted to maintain a dimension of innovation towards future generations who are asking questions about their food and the meaning of local and artisanal.
This collection of objects was designed between March and July 2017 and 9 tables d’hôtes for 12 people were organized in the designer’s studio between September and October as part of Lausanne à Table.
This first collection wants to play with the guest and amaze without confusing. The entire collection was made by renowned craftsmen in Romandie.
